Two Troy High School tennis players are among the nominees in a statewide reader poll following the Colts' second consecutive Division 1 boys tennis championship.

Juniors Krish Gupta and Dheeraj Yelleti appear on MLive's list of Michigan junior boys tennis players, published Wednesday, Oct. 28.

They are the only Troy High players among the nominees. The fan vote closes at 10 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1.

The recognition follows a state tournament in which both players reached the semifinals of their singles flights.

Troy juniors reach state semifinals

Yelleti competed at No. 1 singles at the Division 1 finals in Midland. He advanced to the semifinals before losing 6-1, 6-0 to Ann Arbor Pioneer's Grant Miller, who went on to win the flight championship.

Gupta entered the tournament as the second seed at No. 2 singles and also reached the semifinals.

Both players contributed to Troy's successful fall season. Gupta won his No. 2 singles flight at regionals, while Yelleti finished runner-up at No. 1 singles.

The Michigan High School Athletic Association's championship report confirms that Troy retained the Division 1 team title with 29 points.

Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice finished second with 20 points, followed by Ann Arbor Pioneer with 19.

Doubles teams secure Troy's repeat title

Although Gupta and Yelleti reached the singles semifinals, Troy's doubles lineup provided much of the scoring that secured the championship.

The Colts won three of the four doubles flights, including the No. 1 doubles title by Sourish Daruri and Jesse Hao.

Jyotiraditya Kashyap and Siddarth Manikandan won at No. 2 doubles, while Vivaan Shan and Stas Barodka captured the No. 4 doubles championship.

Head coach Brian Miska guided Troy to another title despite having seven new starters from the previous championship team.

Troy also won Division 1 championships in 2021 and 2025 under Miska.

Statewide reader poll

Gupta and Yelleti join nominees from schools across Michigan, including Novi, Rochester Adams, Berkley and Ann Arbor Pioneer.

The MLive poll invites readers to select their preferred junior boys tennis player. It is a media-organized fan vote, separate from official MHSAA postseason honors.

The poll and complete nominee list are available through MLive until Sunday evening.
