Two Bishop Foley Catholic alumni were named among the 200 greatest athletes in Catholic High School League history and honored Saturday, Oct. 24, during Prep Bowl LIV at Ford Field in Detroit.

Mark Campbell and Darcey (Rasch) Lapointe represented Bishop Foley on the league's centennial lists of 100 male athletes and 100 female athletes.

The recognition is part of the league's yearlong celebration of its 100th anniversary.

According to the CHSL's Oct. 26 announcement, its Centennial Subcommittee selected athletes from different generations and sports, placing particular emphasis on accomplishments beyond high school.

The 200 honorees were recognized during Prep Bowl LIV, the league's annual football showcase.

Mark Campbell: From Bishop Foley to the NFL

Campbell, a Clawson native and Bishop Foley graduate from the Class of 1994, went on to play college football at the University of Michigan.

He played tight end for the Wolverines from 1995 through 1998 and was a member of Michigan's 1997 national championship team.

In 1998, Campbell received the university's Robert P. Ufer Bequest, an award recognizing a senior football player's enthusiasm and love for Michigan football.

Campbell entered the NFL in 1999 as an undrafted player and built a 10-season career with three teams.

He played for the Cleveland Browns from 1999 to 2002, the Buffalo Bills from 2003 to 2005 and the New Orleans Saints from 2006 to 2008.

According to Pro Football Reference, Campbell appeared in 111 regular-season games, recording 146 receptions for 1,356 yards and 12 touchdowns.

His selection to the CHSL centennial list adds to his earlier recognition in the league's Hall of Fame. The league lists Campbell among its 1999 Hall of Fame inductees.

Darcey Lapointe: Basketball and soccer at Central Michigan

Lapointe, who attended Bishop Foley as Darcey Rasch, graduated in 1995.

She continued her athletic career at Central Michigan University, competing in basketball and soccer.

CMU's women's basketball record book lists Darcey Rasch as a member of the 1996 Mid-American Conference All-Freshman Team.

She also played women's soccer for the Chippewas.

On Oct. 3, 1999, Rasch scored against Marshall in a 2-1 Central Michigan victory. Her goal came in the 58th minute and gave the Chippewas a 1-0 lead, according to the university's game recap.

Central Michigan went on to win the match with a late goal.

Lapointe also received recognition from the Catholic High School League during her high school career. The league's Athletes of the Year records list Darcey Rasch of Bishop Foley as its 1995 female athlete of the year.

The league's centennial list names Lapointe but does not specify a particular sport for her selection.

A century of Catholic league athletics

Founded in 1926, the Catholic High School League has organized competition among Catholic schools in southeastern Michigan for a century.

The centennial honorees represent accomplishments across high school, collegiate, professional and international athletics.

The athletes were introduced at Ford Field after the Oct. 24 Prep Bowl game between Jackson Lumen Christi and Dearborn Divine Child, according to the league's event schedule.

The league plans to celebrate the 200 honorees again at its Centennial Gala on June 12, 2027, at Huntington Place in Detroit.
