Troy's Michigan Works! career center on Stephenson Highway is part of the county network that recently earned statewide recognition.
The Oakland County Workforce Development Board received the 2026 Board of Excellence Award from the Michigan Works! Association, according to an Oakland County government announcement published Oct. 21.
The board oversees Oakland County Michigan Works!, which operates the Troy location at 550 Stephenson Highway, Suite 400, and four other centers in Novi, Pontiac, Southfield and Waterford.
Across all five sites, the centers serve 105,000 job seekers and 1,000 employers annually, according to the county's award announcement.
Michigan Works! Association CEO Ryan Hundt presented the award and cited the board's work on Clean Slate, American Rescue Plan Act investments and regional talent initiatives.
"We're proud to honor it with the 2026 Board of Excellence Award," Hundt said in the statement.
Oakland County Executive Dave Coulter, who appoints the board, said helping residents qualify for well-paying jobs and helping companies find workers are county economic priorities.
"This award recognizes how OCMW has built strong, long-term partnerships within our community that ensure Oakland County remains a place where both talent and employers can thrive," Coulter said.
Board Chairman Hernando Flowers credited frontline staff during his acceptance remarks.
"This recognition truly belongs to the professionals who do the work every day," Flowers said.
Director Jennifer Llewellyn also thanked the volunteer board members for their work supporting employers and residents.
Services available in Troy
The Troy center has operated for more than 30 years, according to its website. Staff members have career development or business solutions certifications.
Services across the county's five centers include career coaching, interview preparation, job search workshops, placement assistance and training programs.
Employers can receive help with recruitment, apprenticeship programs, job fairs, candidate screening and employee training.
Staff are available for in-person or virtual appointments.
