An Oakland County lawsuit involving a Troy teenager and General Motors remains pending following several October court filings, including a third-party complaint and a notice of voluntary dismissal.
Johnathan Do and Bich Uyenthi Nguyen are plaintiffs in case 2026-221206-NI, filed Feb. 26 in Oakland County Circuit Court. General Motors, Qian Ye, Progressive Marathon Insurance Co. and Tai Anh Do are listed as defendants in the Michigan court case search. Judge Kwame' L. Rowe is assigned to the case.
The lawsuit concerns injuries Do sustained in a collision involving an electric bicycle and a pickup truck near John R and Square Lake roads in Troy, according to WXYZ's original reporting.
The Oakland County Circuit Court docket shows that a defense request to file a third-party complaint against Nguyen and others was granted Oct. 14. The complaint was filed Oct. 15.
A notice of voluntary dismissal was filed Oct. 20. The publicly displayed docket description does not identify the claims covered by that notice.
WXYZ reported that General Motors withdrew claims it had brought against the teenager's parents. That account is consistent with the timing of the dismissal notice, although the abbreviated court entry does not independently establish which claims were withdrawn.
The court's case summary identifies the matter as a personal injury and auto-negligence action. The case remains open, with a settlement conference scheduled for April 15, 2027, and a trial scheduled for May 11, 2027, according to the September scheduling entries.
