Troy High freshman Hannah Kim shot an even-par 72 in the final round Saturday, Oct. 17, to tie for second at the MHSAA Division 1 girls golf state finals.
Kim posted rounds of 76 and 72 at Bedford Valley Golf Club in Battle Creek for a two-day total of 148, sharing runner-up honors with Saisha Patil of Okemos. Portage Central’s Olivia Griswold earned medalist honors with a 141, seven strokes ahead, according to the MHSAA recap.
Competing in her first state finals, Kim entered the final round tied for fourth. She credited improved putting for her stronger second round.
“My putting was a big improvement from yesterday,” Kim told the MHSAA.
Kim also acknowledged that Griswold’s opening-round 5-under 67 made her difficult to catch. Griswold followed with a 74 to finish the tournament at 3 under par.
The Colts placed 13th in the 18-team field with a two-day total of 740. Troy opened with a 365 on Friday, Oct. 16, tying for 12th, before shooting 375 in the final round, according to the official results.
Junior Evalyn Devisch finished 74th with rounds of 93 and 100 for a 193 total. Senior Una Domazet placed 100th at 210 after rounds of 106 and 104.
