Troy High’s boys soccer team, ranked No. 1 in Michigan by MaxPreps, opens MHSAA District 13 tournament play Monday, Oct. 19, against Royal Oak at Don Hill Stadium.

Kickoff is 5 p.m., according to the school’s weekly athletics highlights, posted Oct. 17 by Karen Baird.

Head coach Jim Stachra’s squad enters the postseason with a 13-0-3 overall record and a 4-0-1 league record, according to MaxPreps. The Colts hold the No. 1 spot in the website’s Michigan, Michigan Division 1 and Detroit-area rankings as of Oct. 19.

Troy beat Royal Oak 2-1 during the regular season Sept. 24, according to MaxPreps. The Colts will look to repeat that result with a district final berth at stake.

The District 13 bracket, posted by Troy High School Athletics on Oct. 5, originally listed Troy’s semifinal opponent as the winner of a first-round game between Royal Oak and Troy Athens. The school’s Oct. 17 update confirmed Royal Oak as the Colts’ opponent.

The athletics department described District 13 as featuring six teams ranked among the top 30 in Division 1 when it published the bracket announcement. The district field includes Troy, Troy Athens, Royal Oak, Birmingham Seaholm, Birmingham Groves, Berkley and Detroit Renaissance.

A second semifinal is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at Troy High School.

MLive named Troy sophomore midfielder/forward Connor Hotts among Metro Detroit’s top boys soccer players to watch entering the state tournament.

Monday’s semifinal winners advance to the District 13 championship game, scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Troy High School.
