Michigan Medicine is recruiting a surgical advanced practice provider for a new Troy campus, ahead of a projected spring 2027 opening.

A job posting on the University of Michigan's careers site seeks one advanced practice provider to work in the Short Stay Unit at the Frances and Kenneth Eisenberg Troy Center for Specialty Care. Qualified nurse practitioners and physician assistants will be considered. The full-time position supports adult surgical patients before and after operations and lists an annual salary range of $135,855 to $208,763.

The listing describes the Troy Medical Campus as University of Michigan Health's "first clinical presence in the Oakland County market." The 220,000-square-foot building sits on the former Kmart headquarters site at 3050 W. Big Beaver Road.

Construction was 60% complete in August, WXYZ reported, with the building on track to open in late spring 2027.

"What's impressed us the most is how much the local construction trades have jumped in to be a part of this project," Ron Henry, Michigan Medicine's executive director of facilities, planning and operations, told WXYZ in August.

The specialty care center will anchor three major programs: cancer services, reproductive medicine and musculoskeletal care. Joint replacement surgery, sports medicine, outpatient surgery suites, a pharmacy, laboratory services and rehabilitation therapies will also operate on site, according to Michigan Medicine’s campus information and WXYZ’s report.

Angela Beck, Michigan Medicine's associate chief of nursing and operations officer, told WXYZ in August that the campus would expand access to Michigan Medicine services in Oakland County. Beck said Michigan Medicine lacks a clinical presence in Oakland County and called the Troy facility an opportunity to bring its expertise closer to area patients.

A second building on the campus, the Forbes Advanced Imaging Center and Samuel and Jean Frankel Cardiovascular Center at 2112 Cunningham Drive, is expected to open in fall 2027, according to Michigan Medicine's Troy Medical Campus page. Construction on that 74,000-square-foot facility was scheduled to begin in August, WXYZ reported.

The campus is pursuing LEED Silver certification, according to Michigan Medicine. It will feature free parking and an on-site café.

The new hire will onboard at other Michigan Medicine sites, including the Brighton Center for Specialty Care and University Hospital, before moving to the Troy campus full time, according to the job listing.
